Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it…

I’ve never been good at managing my money…or saving any of it. Because I never have money, I always have to look for a bargain. Makeup, unfortunately, is usually where I have to make the most sacrifice. If I walked into Sephora I could easily play for hours and throw down thousands of dollars in minutes….a girl can dream. However, I don’t have the means for this kind of play date so instead I spend my minutes browsing one isle at CVS. Bleh. Although I’d much prefer Sephora, CVS has had some good products for me to temporarily use until I win the lottery. Here’s my “Top Ten Under $10″ bargain purchases that seem much richer than the price tag suggests…

Rimmel

1.) Rimmel Volume Max Bold Curves, $7.49… Always go to Rimmel for mascara! I will never spend $20+ again on mascara after using this baby! I always get compliments on my lashes…never clumps, always separates, and makes them look a mile long.

Almay

2.) Almay Intense I-Color Trio, $7.99…I love getting this to play up my baby blues. The pigments in these shadows are long lasting and rich.

L’Oreal

3.) L’Oreal Eye Shadow Base, $8.99…This is great to prep for eye shadow & prevent from a crease forming.

Maybelline

4.) Maybelline Brush-On Color, $5.79…I always use this to fill in my brows, especially when they need to be waxed this is a little forgiving & keeps them neater looking.

Covergirl

5.) Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Self Sharpening Eye Pencil, $6.49…The best eye pencil ever!

Revlon

6.) Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Lipstick, $7.99…In the perfect shade of red when I’m feeling bold.

Sally Hansen

7.) Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Plumping treatment, $6.99…Stings at first *a tiny bit* but the difference is sooo noticeable!

CVS

8.) CVS Cleansing & Makeup Removing Towelettes, $2.99…Because getting eye makeup off is always difficult.

Vaseline

9.) Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil, $7.49…like buttah!

Jergens

10.) Jergens Natural Glow Sheer Daily Foaming Moisturizer, $8.99…for an instant glow.

All ten products are definitely worth trying out! Enjoy!

Got a secret, can you keep it?

My absolute favorite TV series now, and probably ever, is Pretty Little Liars. I’ve been a fan since the first episode aired and never missed one since. Sadly, the spring finale is tonight & I am not quite sure when new episodes will begin again…depression will settle in around 9pm tonight. I’m so dramatic. In addition to all the secrets, anticipation, and superb acting (haha yeah, right) I am obsessed with the hair, makeup, and fashion on the show. The four main characters, Aria, Hanna, Emily, and Spencer are always so nicely put together…not a hair out of place, or swipe of lip gloss undone. This is a show I’d love to work on.

Here are some ‘how to’ videos to get the girl’s hair looks from the show: ABC Family

Hanna’s glow in 6 easy steps: Wet Paint

Spencer’s Shimmery Radiance: Wet Paint

Tutorial: Aria Inspired Look by missglamorazzi:

There are so many great tutorials for the character’s hair and makeup styles online. I can’t wait to try some of them out!

And my favorite part of PLL:

Love....Yum<3

“Did you get a kiss goodnight? Here’s one from me….xo -A”

Enjoy the spring finale! -K

With a roof right over our head…

This song makes me so happy. It instantly makes me feel like summertime and with all this dark, gloomy weather today I could sit in bed and play this on repeat.

On the sunny side of the street…

It’s almost Sunday…only a few more hours until my favorite day of the week. Sunday is pretty much the one day of the week I can sit home and do nothing. I need a day to devote specifically to catching up on all my magazines & reading, so tomorrow will be that day. My best friend Janine & I started our own book club so I am anxiously waiting to start, and most likely finish, my book tomorrow! Enjoy your Sunday!

God created me to be someone that someone else could never be…

I’d like to thank my little sister Molly for posting the following quote the other day. It has really injected a huge dose of inspiration into me. I don’t believe big things are on their way, I know for sure they are already here. I am so profoundly grateful to be working where I am and to be able to say that I drive home everyday with a huge grin on my face after work. So here’s the quote I’m talking about, I hereby give you permission to do the same, take this quote, get off your butt & work towards your dreams, because they’re not gonna come to you.

“Go be that starving artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 televisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world. You’ll thank yourself for it.”

A Guest Post: Wedding, Prom Hair Styles & Hair MAGIC!

Good news! I have decided to open my blog up to Jeanine Longo, my boss, who is also the owner of The Beehive Salon Islip, to post blog entries pertaining to new styles and the latest in hair news. I hope all you readers enjoy the new addition!

Guest Blog – Queen Bee, Owner Beehive Salon Islip

Who wants great hair on their wedding and prom….everyone that is getting married and going to the prom I would imagine!  I have always been inspired by what’s new, different, unique and of course flattering in hair.  I look at every magazine I can get my hands on from Italian Vogue to Teen Vogue and everything in between.  One thing that strikes me is that with ALL of the incredible looks and styles that can be created for each and every person attending a special event is that so many of the styles end up looking very much the same (think curling iron and sweet sixteen).  Boo!  The possibilities are endless- really! With the tricks that we hairdressers have up our sleeves to stay ahead of the curve ensure that their is  nothing we can’t do with your locks.  I say tricks, because tricks are what we use to make hair magic happen. I do not intend on giving up all the tricks that I have up my sleeve but, ok here’s one that I am sure most of you already know about… I’m talkin’  hair extensions!  Hair extensions have come A LONG WAY!  Many people are wearing them and you probably don’t even know it! You just think DAMN I wish I had hair like that. Well….you certainly can!  Stylists use them to create uber long looks (think Guinavere, romantic, earthy styles)  to build height, and volume to those not blessed with tons of hair and also to add COLOR! Ok,  so you don’t have to wear hot pink hair for your wedding (but you certainly could and it would rock!) but you can add what I refer to as “twinkle-color”. Colors that build the illusion of volume and depth and overall gorgeousness when weaved into the color(s) already working in your head. There are also feather extensions (think Steven Tyler- love him), and sparkle extensions (the basketball team owning, cool chick from Housewives of  Orange County wore them last season and I personally LOVED the look!  Well  I could go on and on but I have to go look at the new pile of magazines that will inspire me to create beautfiul show stopping hair! Thank you Lord for helping me find my passion! Best Job EVER! If you want to talk hair…come and see me at my new digs.  My team of stylists rocks! www.thebeehivesalon.com – *Bean
